You can now access Mumbai train schedules on this app!

Mumbaikars in a hurry can now get instant information on upcoming suburban trains and jurisdiction areas of various police stations, in collaboration with Google maps and free Wi-Fi in the city.

Police Commissioner Datta Padsalgikar unveiled the new features on m-Indicator App, currently used by over 10 million people, said its founder Sachin Teke on Thursday.

Detailing its utility, he said m-Indicator App would be a boon to the eight million-plus Mumbai suburban commuters and long-distance travellers as it gives easy connectivity to wi-fi at some major railway stations.

“As soon as the commuter enters the railway station, it gives notification of availability of free wi-fi, the station names and upcoming trains, so the commuter can immediately plan out his journey,” Teke told IANS.

The m-Indicator App is updated with the latest time-tables, long-distance trains from Mumbai and even the BEST public bus service routes, he added.

While in the crowded trains, the commuters will be notified of the railway station where the train is passing/halting to help them deboard at their destined railway station.

On the jurisdiction boundaries of the 93 police stations in Mumbai, Teke said most people are not aware which particular police station to approach to report an incident, which is simplified with m-Indicator App with Google maps.

“It provides the location of the incident and its jurisdiction, the name, address and phone numbers for any emergency, how to reach there, how to report cyber crimes, officials social media accounts of the police department and its officials, etc,” Teke said.
