Swatch Group’s Swiss OS smartwatch operating system expected to launch within months

Work on the platform, code-named Swiss OS, started in 2017, and Swatch Group CEO Nick Hayek went public with the news in March that year with an expected launch date in late 2018.

Little has been heard since, but a spokesperson for the group told Wareable that Swatch is still planning to release an operating system and that this could be by the end of the year, or the beginning of 2019.

Tissot is expected to be the first watch brand to launch a model using Swiss OS, a move that suggests it will be focused on the fitness end of the market.

The brand already has experience with connected watches for active customers in the form of its T-Touch collection of solar-powered touch screen pieces (pictured top).
