Ola has rolled out a new update for its app on Apple’s iOS platform. The new Ola app update brings Siri and Apple Maps integration on iOS 10. With this integration, Apple iPhone and iPad users in India can now ask Siri to book a cab using their voice. It marks Ola’s growing focus to make cab booking even more convenient and accessible to its users. To book your next ride you simply need to say, “Hey Siri, get me an Ola cab.”
To book an Ola cab using Siri, you must ensure that your Apple device is updated to iOS 10, and you have the latest version of Ola app installed. While booking a cab, the Siri screen will first ask you to choose between a wide range of options — including micro, mini, prime and Lux. In the next screen, you get the ETA and other details, with an option to request or cancel. Once you tap on request, Siri will make the booking for you and offer confirmation for the same.
The best part of this integration is that you don’t need to open the Ola app and everything happens inside the Siri screen. It makes use of Sirikit and Mapkit that Apple announced as a part of iOS 10 for developers. The integration lets you book a ride, track progress, and even view rise estimates. What’s more, you can even track the trip progress in a rich notification. The Siri screen will show you the driver name, photo, make and model of the car and the license number plate. The screen will also show the estimated time of arrival (ETA) of the driver to your location. ALSO READ: Ola launches e-rickshaws on its app in Lucknow
“Technology is at the core of all our solutions aimed at providing enhanced mobility to our customers. Integrating our app with iOS 10 is a step towards redefining customer experience. We are proud to be one of the early adopters of Sirikit and Mapkit in the world and we are confident that customers using Apple devices will benefit from this refreshed experience,” Ankit Bhati, Ola co-founder and CTO said. “With this update, Apple users will also get access to Ola directly from Apple Maps when searching for their destination,” he added.
