The US firm was among the pioneers in the video games sector, helping the likes of Pac-Man and Pong go global.

But in the decades since, Atari has lost out to the likes of Nintendo, Sega and Sony.

Atari’s last new console came in 1993 and it filed for bankruptcy in 2013.

Since 2014 it has focused on casino games for mobile phones and online.
