Queenslanders behind on social media – but we’re taking it to the bedroom

Queenslanders use social media less frequently than the rest of their interstate counterparts, a report has found.

The Sensis Social Media report showed 74 per cent of Queenslanders used social media, compared with a national average of 79 per cent.

Sensis Digital spokesperson Rob Tolliday said Queenslanders were also more likely to meet up with their social media friends in real life.

“We did see that people in Queensland are the most likely to have actually seen in person the people that they’re friends with or following them on social media,” he said.

“So there is that stronger indication there is a stronger relationship with the people that they’re connected to on social.”

Another surprising result for Queensland, Mr Tolliday said, was where Queenslanders were using social media.

“In Queensland we saw a really big increase in use of social media when they’re in their bedroom,” he said.

Mr Tolliday said 60 per cent of social media users in Queenslanders said they used social media in their bedroom, almost double the amount of users from last year.
