Google brings YouTube’s gaming app to Indian market

YouTube Gaming is finally available in the Indian market for Android and iOS devices. The service was launched for web in August last year and now Google has made it official for Android and iOS devices in India, Philippines and Malaysia. A competitor to Amazon’s Twitch, the application has a huge repository of game sessions and offers easy switching between live streams of games as well as recorded sessions.

With extensive focus on gaming content, the service has more than 25,000 dedicated game pages, which allow users to check game play and live streams of the popular games available on PC and smartphones.

What makes the service popular among the gamers is the fact that it allows hardcore gamers to broadcast their game play on the web. Some of the popular games that users can stream include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, League of Legends, Metal Gear Solid V, NBA 2K15, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and Until Dawn among others. Besides, broadcasting their skills, users can also watch reviews of the games, live chat with other users around the globe, and explore games more deeply with walkthroughs. What give the service an edge over its competitor Twitch is the ability to to rewind and catch-up with the live stream.

If you are using an Android device, you can record and stream the gaming sessions live using the front facing camera and the microphone. Besides, Android users will get an exclusive feature- the pop out playback, which overlays the playback of the video in the corner of the screen.

Google has tweaked its interface to make the app more accessible. The side bar is replaced with a top bar for navigation. The app will offer suggestions as per user’s activity on the site. Live chat is available on the streams. Google has also added publisher channels, which ensures that only the most interesting videos and streams show up on top.
