‘I don’t want low cal and healthy. I want comfort’

In its purest form, the perfect recipe demands nothing more than al dente pasta, white sauce, mature cheddar, parmesan and breadcrumbs, but for some reason, the world seems unable to leave its humble excellence untouched.

Enter, the latest atrocity in the hipster food movement: ‘Guacaroni’.

Taking to Twitter, healthy food account @TheFitFood shared a video from PopSugar on how to make a low calorie version of mac ‘n’ cheese – but the ingredients left users reeling.

To make the nutritious version, the recipe calls for all-manner of healthy hipster ingredients including avocado, coconut oil and almond flour to be mixed with goats cheese, lime, garlic, red chilli flakes, basil, skim milk and salt.

The green, gloopy mixture is then to be poured over whole wheat macaroni before being topped with toasted almond flour and shredded mozzarella.

While this ‘healthy’ alternative might save you a few calories, it’s almost guaranteed to pale in comparison to indulging in a bowl of cheesy, spoonable deliciousness.

As such, Twitter users were outraged that anyone would tamper with the sanctity of mac ‘n’ cheese with one person saying, “Don’t mess with the mac and cheese. Hell, I don’t want low cal and healthy. I want comfort.
